Endodontics

Endodontics

Endodontics refers to the treatment of the inside of the tooth. Indications include fractured teeth with pulp exposure, non-vital teeth, and teeth that have to be shortened due to malocclusion. Endodontic procedures are used as an alternative to extraction, allowing the tooth to be maintained in the mouth. Not every tooth is a good candidate for endodontic treatment, so we use diagnostic imaging to help us make that determination.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment is an endodontic procedure performed on fractured and non-vital teeth in adult animals. The procedure entails removing diseased pulp from the canal, which is then carefully cleaned, disinfected, filled, and sealed. Usually, root canal treatment can be performed from start to finish in one visit, but on some occasions, it may require staged treatment to be successful. If root canal treatment cannot be fully completed in a single visit, the canal will be filled with a temporary filling material, and a second procedure will be needed to complete the process.
