Orthodontic treatments are performed to help pets have a pain-free and functional bite. Malocclusion is the term used to describe the incorrect alignment of the teeth, whether that is a discrepancy in jaw length or a tooth or teeth that are out of place. If a juvenile patient has a malocclusion, early treatment can alleviate pain and prevent problems with the adult teeth. Orthodontic treatment options may include using an appliance to move teeth, crown reduction, and vital pulp therapy or selective extractions.
