Specialty Anesthesia

Experts in Veterinary Dentistry Working with Experts in Veterinary Anesthesia

Most of us are anxious about our pets being anesthetized and this can create a barrier to maintaining a pet’s oral health. Over the years, veterinary anesthesia has significantly improved and is now safer than ever. With a well-trained veterinary team, and advanced monitoring equipment, your pet’s anesthetic risks can be greatly minimized.

At Animal Dental Care and Oral Surgery, we strive to provide the safest and most stress-free anesthesia experience possible for you and your pets. For that reason, we have partnered with a group of anesthesiologists to provide individualized anesthetic plans and monitoring for all our patients. The board-certified veterinary anesthesiologists at My Vet Anesthesiologist™ provide livestream monitoring, linking directly to our monitors and working in tandem with our registered technicians every day. This team approach to anesthesia and pain control helps achieve our goal of a safe anesthetic experience and speedy recovery.

If an in-person anesthesiologist is preferred, we have two local board-certified anesthesiologists (Dr. Bonnie Wright and Dr. Jalise Zumstein) who come to our hospital to provide care for our patients.

For either situation, a tailored anesthetic plan with considerations like breed, age, medical risks, and health status is created. Before each procedure, a comprehensive physical exam and bloodwork are performed to assess organ function and risk factors, along with a thorough review of your pet’s medical records to evaluate any significant medical history, medications, and any past anesthetic events.

What is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist?

A veterinary anesthesiologist is a veterinarian who specializes in advanced pain management, sedation, and anesthesia for animals. These doctors are highly trained in managing medically complex or high-risk cases, continuously monitoring physiological parameters during procedures, and guiding patients safely through recovery.  Read more about veterinary anesthesiologists in our blogs at the bottom of this page.
